So, what exactly is hypnosis and how does it work?

The first thing I would like to mention is that hypnosis is not a supernatural state. On the contrary, it is a natural state of our consciousness, the state of mind that every person goes in and out few times every day.

Our brain, being the most sophisticated computer on the planet, emits and runs off of electrical energy.

Researches have concluded that the four main brainwave frequencies the human mind oscillates among, include: beta, alpha, theta and delta.

Beta waves are ones of the higher frequency, and are present when we are fully awaken.

They have to do with our concentration, alertness, analysis, with our mind being active.

Alpha waves have a lower frequency and define the relaxed state of our mind, when we are falling asleep or about to wake up, when we are daydreaming.

Our conscious mind is more relaxed and our sub-conscious mind is more active in this state; our creativity and imagination comes upfront. We are in a state of light hypnosis. (This is the state that I will guide you into, to give you a hypnotic suggestion)

Theta waves, even lower frequency, are associated with deeper state of hypnosis, dreams and sleep.

Delta waves are deep sleep, no hypnosis can occur in this state. Our conscious mind is totally at rest and only unconscious mental activity is present.

State of hypnosis can be described as a state of deep relaxation with an ability to listen, hear and understand.  Some level of conscience mind remains active. This means that to be able to receive hypnotic suggestion and to get the most benefits from it, the person should not be asleep, he is still in control and aware of his surroundings.
